Kenneth McMasters, age 85, of Asheboro peacefully passed away on January 10, 2017.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kari L. Howard officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. McMasters was born in Liberty, NC on September 16, 1931 to Brodie Justavis and Virgin Mary Ferguson McMasters. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was sent to Germany for duty. He retired from G.E./Black & Decker after 35 years of service. He was a member of West Bend United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and was involved in other activities. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Marie McMasters and brother, Homer Jine McMasters. Kenneth did woodworking making several items for family. He enjoyed his bowling league, Century Club, winning badges and several trophies.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, and caregiver, Lena Mae Spoon McMasters; son, Douglas McMasters; daughter, Linda McMasters Garner and husband Andy; grandson, Aaron Garner; granddaughters, Tiffany McMasters Yelton and husband Brian and Kori McMasters; great granddaughter, Sydney Yelton; great grandson, Liam Bradds; brothers, Tracy McMasters and wife Cynthia, Gene McMasters and wife Kay; and several nieces and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Woodland Hill and Hospice for their loving care.
