Keith Douglas "Lenny" Eaton, 54, of 873 Greystone Rd., Asheboro, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Greystone Baptist Church, Asheboro. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Parker and Pastor Rocky Patterson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery at Harmony Baptist Church in Ramseur. He was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England and served 14 years as an officer in the British Royal Navy, was awarded 2 medals of service for the Northern Ireland Conflict and the Falklands War. Prior to his illness he was employed as a detective with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office for 5 years doing what he truly loved which was helping others. His love and passion for soccer led him to coach community youth teams for over 20 years and he was a founding board member and former president of Asheboro Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) which is now Central Carolina Soccer Club. He loved the Lord and was a living testimony to many as he bravely journeyed his battle with cancer. He was a member of Greystone Baptist Church, Asheboro. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Dee Eaton of Asheboro, daughters Sarah Eaton and Sydney Eaton of the home. Also surviving is brother Leslie Eaton and his wife Mary Eaton, both of Greensboro. The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6:30-8:30 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2010, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, Inc., 416 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203.
