Kathryn Ann "Kathy" Hartman McClain, age 70, of Asheboro died peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.
Mrs. McClain was born in Rochester, NY on March 25, 1947 to Frank and Pearl Wilson Hartman. Kathy was formerly employed with the University of Rochester and was retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. Kathy was a member of First United Methodist Church and formerly attended First Presbyterian Church. She was formerly a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Randolph County, and was a volunteer with Randolph Hospital, the NC Zoo, and the NC Cooperative Extension office. Kathy was a member of Gamma Phi Sorority. She was an avid golfer and was very involved with the Thursday ladies golf league at the Asheboro City Golf Course.
She is survived by her husband, Dale McClain; son, Jason Nicholls of Charlotte, NC; stepsons, Andrew McClain of Rochester, NY, Matthew McClain and wife Christine Whalen of Austin, TX, Aaron McClain of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Marcia Schlueter of Rochester, NY; brother, Barry Hartman of Asheville, NC; nieces, Erica Schlueter-Fronzak, Megan Schlueter-Newman, Danielle Shepanski, and Jillian Mullins; and 10 grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson and Rev. Pat Thames officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
