Katherine "Helma" Kress Russell, age 84, of Randleman died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mrs. Russell was born May 22, 1929 in Germany, the daughter of Johan and Margarette Kress. Katherine was retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill. She was an active member of First Wesleyan Church, Randleman until sickness prevailed. Katherine was the president of the Womens Missionary Society, a Sunday School Teacher and served as Church Treasurer. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. In addition to her parents Katherine is also preceded in death by her husband, Winfred "Wink" Russell.
She is survived by three daughters: Barbara Sheppard of Randleman, Annelie Rizos and her husband Nick of Fort Mill, SC, and Brenda Colflesh and her husband Michael of Winston- Salem; grandson, Bradley Sheppard of Randleman; brother- in -law, Lee Roy Russell and his wife Delois of Randleman; sister- in -laws, Decie Moody of Ramseur, Mildred Oliver and Betty Rodden both of High Point; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 3:00 pm at First Wesleyan Church, 125 Tabernacle St., Randleman with Rev. Don Hurlburt officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
