Katherine Smith Morris

Katherine "Kathy" Smith Morris, age 59, of 4619 N.C. Hwy 109 North, Troy died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Morris was born October 23, 1951 in Montgomery County, NC, the daughter of Nelson and Boots Haywood Smith of Mt. Gilead. Kathy was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Gardner-Webb College and UNCG where she received her Master's Degree. Having earned her Master's Degree, she was a Special Ed teacher at East Middle School. Kathy also taught through Montgomery Community College, Continuing Education and other courses part time at Southern Correctional Institute. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband: Randy Morris of the home; one daughter: Heather Jones and husband John, of Troy; three sisters: Diane Smith of Mt. Gilead, Debbie Herman and husband Thomas, of Claremont, Darlene Russell and husband Anthony, of Troy; two brothers: Joey Smith of Mt. Gilead, Tony Smith and wife Jennifer, of Mt. Gilead. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:30 pm at Macedonia United Methodist Church, 4203 NC Hwy 109N, Troy with Rev. Jesse Clubb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
