Kateland Marie "Katie" Bunch

Kateland Marie Bunch, 29, of Asheboro, died on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Katie is survived by her parents, Johnny and Nancy Bunch of Asheboro, brother Tommy Bunch of High Point, sister Kara Parrish, husband Matt, and nephew Casey, of Angier, sister Ashley Bunch, of Asheboro, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Claudine C. Bunch and her maternal grandmother Sally J. Johnson. A native of Randolph County, Katie was born April 29, 1988 and graduated from Asheboro High School in 2006, and Elon University as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow in 2010. She returned to Asheboro to teach Civics and Economics classes at her alma mater. Katie served her community as an active volunteer in several organizations, including the Delta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Inc., Asheboro Junior Women's Club, and First United Methodist Church. She was passionate about education, serving not only as a high school history teacher, but also as a student council advisor and an Elon Academy Mentor. The family expresses special appreciation to her many caregivers at UNC Women's Hospital. Katie loved well and was well loved. She was an amazing person who touched many lives with her contagious smile and expressions of love for everyone that knew her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, with Rev. Lynda Ferguson, Senior Pastor, and Rev. Caitlin Tremper, Associate Pastor, presiding, followed by the receiving of friends in the fellowship hall. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
