Judy Lane Brewington Scott, age 77 of Randleman passed away on August 26, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mrs. Scott was born January 5, 1943 the daughter of James and Hazel Chavis Brewington. Judy was born in Pembroke, NC and was very proud of her Lumbee Indian heritage. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Judy enjoyed needlepoint and vacationing with her family. She retired as a police officer from the Greensboro Police Department, one of the handful of women and the very first native American Indian on the police department, following that she was awarded Indian of the year award from the Guilford Native American Association. Judy was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Pembroke and loved to make homemade banana ice cream and was known for her delicious fried chicken and her famous homemade pound cake. In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her sister, Zenetta Brewington; brothers, Hartman, James, and Ricky Brewington.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Scott of the home; daughters: Sharon Scott Kenney of Randleman, Denise Scott Lawrence and husband Shannon of Winston- Salem; son, Christopher Wayne Scott and wife Lee of Pleasant Garden; grandchildren, Nichole McMillan, Tyler Kenney; great grandchildren, Ava and Alaina Toal; and brother, Rev. Tony Brewington and wife Peggy.
The funeral will be Friday, September 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel Mausoleum at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Tony Brewington officiating.
