Juanita Ruby Cagle Lewis, age 81, of NC Hwy. 42 S., Asheboro died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Friends Meeting, with
Rev. Ben Hurley and Rev. Leslie Winslow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Juanita left behind a legacy of service to God, family, friends and community, serving as Sunday school teacher, church youth leader and Cub Scout den mother. She was the first woman to receive The Cleveland Thayer Award from the Boy Scouts. Juanita enjoyed canning, ceramics, woodworking and jewelry and spent an inordinate amount of time on the Cagle and Lewis genealogy. She was an avid Atlanta Braves and American Legion baseball fan. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Stena Humble Cagle, brothers, Meredith Cagle and Shelton Cagle.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Lewis; sons, Brian Lewis and his wife Ginger of Asheboro, Barry Lewis and his wife Nancy of Asheboro; grandchildren, Kelly Hamlett, Wendy Houston, Eric Tysinger, Amy Smith; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Cayden Hamlett, Jordan, Reagan, Aden and Wesley Smith, Emma Tysinger; sister, Madonna Snow of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, other times at the home of Brian and Ginger Lewis.
