Juanita Dardy Johnson Daniels, age 91, the loving daughter of the late James A. and Goldie Thompson Dardy, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Woodland Hills of Asheboro. Juanita Elizabeth named for a music teacher and the popular song of the day, "Juanita", spent her childhood in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. She lived in Sanford and Randleman until moving to a Chatham County farm with her late husband Clayton where they lived for 20 years. She spent her last 25 years in Asheboro after retiring from Burlington Industries. She was a graphic design technician for 42 years, trained by a Swiss engineer who spoke halting English. Within her career she trained other interns and workers in Pennsylvania and the Carolinas.
Juanita was a member of First E & R United Church of Christ, the Senior Choir there, the SPCA and NC Farm Bureau. She was a lifelong democrat and a friend of Labor. She was a member of the Retired Textile Workers of NC, she enjoyed playing cards and Rummikub. She loved her family, pets, music, her RV and the beach.
She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Caroline Elizabeth, her husband, Clayton Daniels, her sister, Lillie Pugh and brothers: Odis, Samuel, John and William Leroy; her granddaughter: Charlene Shaw; and nephew, John Raymond Dorrity; and niece, Kay Moser Bennett.
Juanita is survived by her daughter: Jolene Johnson Gallardo (S. A. Gallardo, MD) of Florida, her son: Worth Darrell Johnson (Christine) of Asheboro. She leaves her two grandsons, Christopher and John Golden of China; and granddaughter: Elizabeth Johnson Palma (Jose') of Asheboro. She also leaves six beloved great grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her brother-in-law: Everette Daniels; sisters-in-law: Liza (Jack) McCelland, Dorothy Daniels, Elsie Darity and Ruby Haithcock.
The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the First Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, 221 Cliff Road, Asheboro, NC, with the Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. A private family burial will be held prior to the Memorial Service.
