Juanita D Beasley

Juanita Draughn Beasley, age 89, of Troy, died Monday, June 19, 2017 at her home.

Ms. Beasley was born November 6, 1927 in Mt. Airy, NC, the daughter of the late Haywood Oscar and Katie Marie (McKnight) Draughn.

Ms. Beasley was a seamstress who loved to knit. Every grandchild and great grandchild has a sweater hand made by their grandmother. She was very creative, very witty, and an incredible cook. She enjoyed baking cakes and pies for all to enjoy. She loved traveling, camping and Bluegrass music. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many. She was always accompanied by her loving canine companion Sissie.

She was employed as a Teacher's Assistant in the Montgomery County School System for 26 years prior to retirement.

She is survived by one daughter: Nancy B. Lamb (Zee) of Rocky Mount, NC, one son, Barry Beasley (Jane) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Blythe Edwards, Zack Beasley, Anna Kate Lamb and Caroline Lamb; great-grandchildren, Jake Edwards, Lilly Edwards, Ethan Beasley, and Layla Beasley; Brother In Law, Donald Blackburn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Clarence Beasley, grandson Zee Lamb, and sisters Dorothy Bryant and Elaine Blackburn.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 23, 2017 from 10:00 - 10:45 AM First Baptist Church, 401 E. Main St., Troy, NC, with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery, Troy.

The family very much appreciates the love and care given to Ms. Beasley by her caregivers Elizabeth Morton, Catherine Morgan, and Sharon Harleson.
