Joyce Leonard

Joyce Leonard of Franklinville died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Randolph Hospital. She was 76 years old. Joyce is survived by her son Donald Leonard Jr, affectionately known as Junior (Jr.), her sister Peggy Canoy of Randleman, and many nieces and nephews whom she considered as her own children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Leonard, Sr., her grandson James Lattice, and four siblings, Milliard, Willard, Stella and Gladys. Joyce was born June 20, 1935 and married Donald, March 14, 1960. Joyce loved the Salvation Army and was currently an active soldier at The Salvation Army Corps in Asheboro. She also attended The Salvation Army in Henderson and High Point, NC. There is no doubt she loved the Lord and was dedicated to worshipping with her fellow believers every Sunday. She also had a great love for her family as well as young children, affectionately calling those she was close to "her babies". Joyce will be missed by her family, her church family and friends. The "Celebration of Life" service will be held Monday, March 12th at 2:00 PM at The Salvation Army Corps, 345 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC with Captain Curtis Kratz officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Macon, NC.
