Joyce Hamlet

Effie Joyce Hamlet, age 73, of Asheboro died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at her home. Joyce was born in Randolph County and was the daughter of the late Jack Hamlet and Effie Maness Hamlet Holland. She was a 1955 graduate of Asheboro High School, where she was a star athlete and played in the high school band. She played semi-pro softball with the National Champion Barden All-Stars. Joyce was retired as a bookkeeper for Guilford County Social Services. She is survived by her brother, Lloyd Hamlet and his wife Ann of Asheboro; nieces, Pam Fortune and her husband Chuck of Lexington and their children Chris, Courtney, and Caleb, Kim Howell and her husband Tom of Raeford and their children Sarah-Ann and Hunter. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
