Joyce Thompson Deaton

Joyce Lydia Thompson Deaton, age 90, of 140 Shiloh Rd, Troy died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro. Joyce was born May 25, 1924 at Montgomery County, NC, the daughter of Anthonye Martin and Maggie Hamilton Thompson. Joyce was a retired employee of Collins & Aikman Corporation. She loved her flowers and gardening. In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, James C "Bud" Deaton. She is survived by two daughters: Valeria Harris Deaton of Charlotte, Jolene Cagle of Troy; two sons: Curtis Deaton of Bakersville, Richard "Tinker" Deaton of Troy; one sister: Carleen Morris of Troy; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and loving neice, Mary Ann Bolling. A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 3 pm at Love Joy United Methodist Church, 1137 Substation Rd., Troy, NC with Rev. Ron Scott officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.
