Joyce Brown

Joyce Piersol Brown, age 87, formerly of 323 Ridgecrest Road, Asheboro died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur. Mrs. Brown was born April 5, 1925 the daughter of Orville Sherman and Allene Mettie Allen Piersol. Joyce was a native of Ramseur, NC and was a 1942 graduate of Greensboro Women's College. She retired, after 38 years, from Burlington Industries. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was a lifetime member of the Westwood Garden Club. She and her husband, William, participated in Meals-on-Wheels and various Lion's Club Events. She enjoyed playing Bridge and had also been active in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. She is preceded in death by her husband: William L. Brown, Jr. and an infant daughter. She is survived by: one daughter: Jane Brown Moore of Asheboro, NC and one son: Alan Brown of Chapel Hill, NC; and her grandchildren: Alan Moore of Asheboro, NC; Ethan Brown of Greensboro, NC; and Kathryn Moore of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Holly Spring Friends Meeting, 2938 Holly Spring Rd., Ramseur with Rev. Todd Brown officiating.
