Joyce Elaine Browne Blackwelder

Joyce Elaine Browne Blackwelder, age 68 of Denton, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield in High Point.

Joyce was born on September 7, 1955 in Randolph County to Carlyle and Dot Smith Browne. Joyce graduated from Eastern Randolph High School and Guilford Technical Community College with a degree in dental hygiene. She worked as a dental hygienist for 45 years and was a member at Crossroads Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the choir. Joyce loved to go to the beach, enjoyed reading, and had a passion to volunteer. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved and adored. In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her grandson, Carter Whitson.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Todd Blackwelder of the home; sons, Justin Davis of Gibsonville, Jake Blackwelder (Megan) of Moab, UT, and Travis Blackwelder (Carlotta) of Aken, SC; daughter, Samantha Whitson (Chad) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Michael Coltrane, Rebecca Davis, Mckenzie Smith (Dylan), Carleigh Whitson, Olivia Blackwelder, Henry Blackwelder, Cody Blackwelder, Chyenne Blackwelder, Maya Blackwelder, and T.J. Blackwelder; two great grandchildren, Connor, and Oaklynn; brother, Steve Browne (Kathy) of Guyton, GA; and her sisters, Jan Goltare of Greensboro, and Joan Cox of Asheboro; and her special feline companion, Flash.

Joyce will Lie in Repose on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. A private graveside service will be held.
