Josephine D. Cook passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Mrs. Cook was born August 21, 1924 in Davidson County to William Jake and Mede Smith Davis. She was a lifelong member of Pine Hill United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Denton High School where she participated on the basketball and softball teams. Remaining a sports enthusiast, she was very loyal to NC State basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. Mrs. Cook enjoyed gardening and cooking Sunday lunch for her family was her greatest joy.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Cook of 52 years and son, Jimmy Neal Cook. She is survived by son, Harold Dalton Cook, son, Bill David Cook and wife Alice; daughter, Phyllis Cook Graves and husband Randy all of Asheboro; daughter-in-law, Marty Hines Cook of Winston-Salem, son, Terry Wayne Cook and wife Midge of Sunset Beach. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who lovingly knew her as "Annie".
The family expresses a special appreciation to Renorda Taylor for her love and dedication.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at Pine Hill United Methodist Church, Hwy. 109, Denton with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. The family will receive friends following the burial in the church cemetery and other times at her home.
