Joseph Tinty Upchurch

Joseph Tinty Upchurch, age 87, of 712 Worth St., Asheboro died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. A graveside service with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be held Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Carl Dunker and Rev. Tom Benedict officiating. Mr. Upchurch was a native of Moore County and an Army veteran of WWII serving in the Infantry Division stationed in Europe. He was retired from Asheboro Furniture after 25 years of service and volunteered with the Randolph County Volunteer Program. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lounette Harper Upchurch; daughter, Jo Anne Ganey of Asheboro; sister, Virginia Hill of High Falls; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
