Joseph Burl Grubbs, age 77, of 349 Allred Way, Randleman died Monday, December 31, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House at 5:30 a.m. Mr. Grubbs was born on August 2, 1935 the son of the late Thomas Leo and Irene Stevenson Grubbs in Lenoir County, NC.
Mr. Grubbs graduated from Lowe's Grove High School in Durham County and from Nashville Automotive and Diesel College. He served in the Army in the 504 Military Police Battalion. He also worked at Mebane Packaging Corporation in Mebane and Clayton, NC and in Greenville, Mississippi, for 28 years before retiring.
He was a member of Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church where he also served on the board of directors. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Settle Grubbs; his daughter, Kathy Grubbs Jenkins; his brothers, Steve, Tom, John and Bill Grubbs; sister, Lois Grubbs Rachelle.
Mr. Grubbs is survived by his son Tom and Teresa Grubbs of Burlington, NC; son-in-law, Art Jenkins of Concord, NC; grandsons, Tristan and Wyatt Jenkins of Concord, NC; brother, James Grubbs of Jacksonville, Florida.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 11:00 am at Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, 3335 Wesleyan Rd., Randleman with Rev. John Purdue officiating.
