Joseph Douglas  “Doug” Bulla, age 56, of the Rollingwood Group Home in Greensboro passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home.

Doug was born in Asheboro on March 17, 1961 to J.D. and Lois Ellen Boroughs Bulla.  He was a longtime member of the Joy Class at First Baptist Church.  

He is survived by his brother, Steve Bulla of Asheboro; sisters, Judy Garner and husband Jimmy of Asheboro and Barbara Heavner and husband David of Morganton; nieces, Kasey Beal and husband Mickey, Kelly Garner, and Whitney Heavner; nephew, Patrick Heavner; great nieces, Ainsley and Ava Hancock; and his housemates at Rollingwood, T.K., Jonathan, John, Andy, and Chip.   The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.  Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Mason officiating.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to The North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, 2200 Gateway Centre Blvd., Suite 201, Mooresville, NC  27560.
