Johnny Delano Rumbley, age 72, of Asheboro died Monday, October 15, 2007 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mr. Rumbley was born November 2, 1934 the son of Dewey and Violet (Griffin) Rumbley. Johnny was a native of High Point and a graduate of Randleman High School. He served in the US Navy for four years on the USS Lewis. While in the Navy he traveled the world crossing the equator twice. He was stationed in Alaska and in San Diego, CA. Johnny was a member of Midway Wesleyan Church. He worked in the Furniture Industry until his retirement from Woodmart and Disk. He then spent several years as a Security Guard with different companies in Randolph and Guilford counties, the last being Sara Lee on South Fayetteville Street in Asheboro where he was the last person to leave when they closed the doors. Johnny's favorite pass-time was his grandchildren and camping. He died doing what he loved, experiencing God's beautiful creation. From the Grand Canyon, to glaciers in Alaska, the end of the road in the Florida Keys, to Niagara Falls, he traveled with his wife of 48 years throughout the US and Canada. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Rumbley. He is survived by his wife: Mae (Coble) Rumbley; Daughter and her husband, Crystal And Jeff Miller of SC; Grandson & his wife, Chris And Trisha Singletary of Franklinville, NC; Grandson, Derick Singletary of Robbins, NC; granddaughter, Stephany Singletary of Asheboro, NC; step grandchildren, Blake And Ethan Singletary of Franklinville, NC; brother and his wife, Bobby And Joann Rumbley of Franklinville, NC; brother and his wife, Ray And Lois Rumbley of Asheboro, NC; brother and his wife, Donald And Ruby Rumbley of Randleman, NC; sister and her husband, Peggy And Ed Gibson of Chesterfield, VA The family will receive friends Thursday October 18, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC and Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM at Midway Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall. The funeral will be Friday, October 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Midway Wesleyan Church, 331 Worthville Rd., Randleman with Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
