John Hal Varner, age 66, of Cedar Falls died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with James and Brian Allmon officiating. Burial will be in New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Varner was a native of Asheboro and was formerly employed with Asheboro Ready Mix. He had a fondness for fishing, old cars (especially Fords) and Randoph County History. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Varner and his sister and her husband, John and Dianne Varner Anderson.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Amy and Brian McGraw of Pleasant Garden, NC, Toni Burrow-Sluss and Sam Sluss of Franklinville, NC; son and his wife, Doug and Lorrie Varner of Asheboro, NC; grandson, Michael Varner of Asheboro, NC; mother, Mary Sykes Varner of Asheboro, NC; brothers and their wives, Bill and Francis Varner of Asheboro, NC, Bobby and Geraldene Varner of Asheboro, NC, brother, Richard Varner of Seagrove; sisters and their husbands, Peggy and James Allmon, Helen and Gary Luck, Betty and Billy Allmon, Margaret and Jeffrey Clark all of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 - 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
