John Robert Skeen

John Robert Skeen, age 78, of 6403 NC Hwy. 49 S., Denton died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, 6737 Gravel Hill Rd., Denton with Rev. Danny Hosler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Skeen was a native of Randolph County, was a 1948 graduate of Farmer School, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from General Electric/Black & Decker, attended Gravel Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the Farmer Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Colette Freeman Skeen of the home; son, John G. Skeen of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Teresa Bobbitt and her husband Marvin of Durham, NC; grandson, M.G. Bobbitt IV; sisters, Dorothy Frye of Asheboro, NC, Margaret Black of Asheboro, NC, Delores Hudson of Denton, NC and brother, Larry Skeen of Denton, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at his home.
