John Martin Robb, Sr., age 91, of 3646 Shady Brook Dr., Franklinville died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, 5056 N.C. Hwy 22 North, Franklinville with Rev. Doug Miller, Rev. Alanda Harris, and Rev. A.C. Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.Mr. Robb was a native of Beaver Falls, PA and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Houghton College and was active in the Houghton, NY Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former Constable in Caneadea, NY. He was a former Commander with the VFW Post in Pennsylvania and was a member of the American Legion. He was active with the Boy Scouts and for 40 years was a Scoutmaster. Mr. Robb was known in scouting circles as Badin Powell. John was a member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Margaret Robb, son, John M. Robb, Jr., and sister, Alma Dunston. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Robb and his wife Lynette of Slatedale, PA, James Robb and his wife Charlotte of Franklinville, NC, David Robb and his wife Ronda of Climax, NC; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Mills of Conway, SC and Naomi Cook of Hemet, CA.The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the church. Memorials may be made to Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, 5056 N.C. Hwy 22 North, Franklinville, NC 27248 or to Boy Scout Troop #518, c/o Grays Chapel United Methodist Church.
