John Lloyd Mothershead, Jr., age 73, of 368 Bossong Dr., Asheboro died Monday, April 7, 2008 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Sedgefield Presbyterian Church, 4216 Wayne Rd., Greensboro, NC with Rev. Scott Bass officiating.
Mr. Mothershead grew up in Arkansas and Missouri and received a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Rolla School of Mining and Metallurgy. John lived and worked most of his adult life in Greensboro, NC. Mr. Mothershead was very involved in community service and took an early retirement from AT&T Lucent Technologies to pursue community service full time. He was active in organizing and working at blood drives and was a long time Boy Scout leader. John had a deep passion for preserving and caring for the environment. He was an avid tennis player. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Richards Mothershead.
He is survived by his wife, Louann Mothershead; daughter, Roberta R. Mothershead and her husband Scott Bass of Raleigh, NC; son, R. Brett Mothershead and his wife Lisa Cain of Stokesdale, NC; grandchildren, Christian Gross of Greenville, NC; Grant Gross of Raleigh, NC; Jaime Mothershead and Emily Mothershead both of Stokesdale, NC; step children, Elizabeth Ivy Goodman of Carrboro, NC; Margaret Ann Goodman of Springfield, OH; Walter Hugh Goodman and his wife Carol of Lisle, IL; step grandchildren, Anna Goodman and Keri Goodman; brother, James S. Mothershead and sister, Alice Ann Wolford.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
