John David Goss

John David Goss, Sr., age 90, formerly of 922 Worth St. Asheboro, NC passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, August 15, 2012 at Universal Healthcare of Ramseur. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mr. Goss was born in Alamance County, NC on July 19, 1922 to Walter and Claudia Goss, who have preceded him in death. The love of his life, his wife Frances, to whom he was married for 62 years, preceded him in death on December 19, 2011. John was a lifelong devoted fan of his beloved alma mater, N. C. State. One of his greatest joys in life was tailgating with friends and family at N. C. State football games. John also loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. He is survived by his children; John D Goss, Jr. (Johnny) of Asheboro, NC; Mike Goss and his wife, Anne of Shelby, NC; Susan Goss Carringi of Evergreen, Colorado; and Bob Goss and his wife, Tina of Asheboro, NC; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nannie Harris of Burlington, NC; Augustine Hobgood of Burlington, NC; brother, Troy "Buddy" Goss of Burlington, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1:30 to 2:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and at other times at the home of his son, Bob Goss, 107 Shannon Rd, Asheboro, NC. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the nurses and staff at Universal Health Care of Ramseur for the compassionate care given to their father these last few years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 133 North Church St, Asheboro, NC 27203 or to the donor's choice.
