John Thomas Everhart, age 64, of Asheboro died Friday, February 5, 2016 at his home. Mr. Everhart was born January 4, 1952 at Asheboro, NC the son of William and Marion Tysor Everhart. John was a native of Asheboro and a graduated from Asheboro High School in 1970 and later received his BS degree from Appalachian State University. He served in the US Army and worked at the NC Zoo. He was town manager for Denton and Jonesville, NC during his career. John was an avid animal lover and music lover and enjoyed spending time with his loving dog, Shannon. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by one brother, David Everhart. He is survived by his wife: Cindy Shackelford Everhart; mother: Marion Tysor Lucas; three brothers: Randy Everhart of Asheboro, Mark Everhart of Maryville, TN, and Luke Lucas of Asheboro; and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm prior to the 4:00 PM Memorial Service at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Memorials may be made to Randolph SPCA, 160 N. Park St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
