John Wainwright Dortch, age 80, of Seagrove died Friday, April 24, 2015 at Randolph Hospital. Mr. Dortch was born in Richmond, VA on July 6, 1934 to Werter Alphonso and Lucille Lukhard Dortch. John retired from Cross Road Retirement Community after 11 years of service and was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Janice Dortch; sons, Daniel and Michael Dortch of the home, David, Will, and Larry, and daughter, Jon Elizabeth; 9 grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Call and husband Jimmy of Mechanicsville, VA, Ann Steinruck of Richmond, VA; and brother, Tony Dortch and wife Polly of Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. The funeral will be Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro with Dr. Ronnie Chaney and Gary Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
