John Wesley Coble, age 87, of Franklinville died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Mr. Coble was born October 20, 1926 the son of Alfred and Mattie Brafford Coble.
Mr. Coble was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Providence High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy . John was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church serving his church in many areas. He was a member of the Methodist Men'sFellowship, taught Sunday School for over 50 years and this year he was awarded the Laity Service Award. John was a life long auto mechanic working for Nance Chevrolet and George Long Dodge before being employed by Petty Enterprise for 21 years. His other passions included gardening, fishing and bee keeping. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sisters: Virginia Duncan and Mary Foust.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret (Peggy) Hayes Coble of the home; daughters: E.J. Coble-Penning and her husband Jack of Raleigh, Julie Coble Lambert and her husband Steve of Franklinville, and Susy Coble of Greensboro; grandchildren, Katharine Penning of Fort Collins, Co., Elizabeth Messick of Greensboro, John Messick and his wife Sarah of Raleigh, Taylor Sponaugle of Greensboro, Jack Penning, III and his wife Mary of Portland, Or., and Jill Darrah and her husband Kevin of Chicago, Il.; brother: Jack Coble and his wife Hazel of Franklinville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville with Pastor Pat Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard..
