John Franklin Callicutt, Jr, age 83, of 1124 Oakdale Drive in Asheboro died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at his home. Mr. Callicutt was born April 18, 1925 in Asheboro the son of John Franklin and Myrtle Lanier Callicutt. Mr. Callicutt was a native of Randolph County, US Army Veteran of WWII, member of Brower's Memorial Wesleyan Church of Asheboro and retired from Stedman's after 39 years of service. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Pauline Bell Callicutt, sisters, Alice Covington and Kate Harvell, brothers, Eli, Ervin and Ernest Callicutt. John is survived by sons: Larry Franklin Callicutt and wife Glenda of Bryson City and Perry Ferree Callicutt of Asheboro; grandchildren: Vickie Bunting and husband David of Asheboro; Scott Callicutt and wife Andrea of Raleigh and Perry Callicutt, Jr. and wife Vickie of Asheboro; great grandchildren: Abbie Callicutt, Joshuah Callicutt, Hunter Bunting, Logan Bunting and Dakota Bunting all of Asheboro; sisters: Ruth Lyndon of Asheboro and Treva Stines of Greensboro. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro other times at the home. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with Rev. Daniel Thames and Dr. Edward Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow with Military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. N. Asheboro.
