John Thomas Burns, age 94, of 306 Hawthorne Dr., Asheboro died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Burns was born in Pickens, SC on April 22, 1919 to Thomas Butler and Bertha Mae Harris Burns. John served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was a self-employed builder. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son Tommy Burns and brothers Otis and David Burns, of Asheboro.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Lucas Burns; daughters, Patsy Fields and her husband Thomas of Elgin, SC, Carol Ramsay of Asheboro; and brother, E.E. "Pat" Burns of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at his home.
