John David Adams

John David Adams, Sr, age 74, of Randleman passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Mr. Adams was born May 5, 1945 at Bryson City, NC the son of Archie Woodrow Adams, Sr and Bernice Mae Hooper Adams who has preceded him in death.

Mr. Adams was born in Bryson City, NC and formerly employed as a cloth cutter in the furniture business. He retired from Randolph County Detention Center as inmate supervisor. David was a member of Caraway Baptist Church where he proudly served as a deacon and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He coached youth and high school football, baseball and softball in the Randleman school system and took pride in the kids and their success playing sports. David loved his family, playing golf, and especially reading his bible.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Gwen York Adams; children: John David (Melissa) Adams, Jr. of Randleman, Sherry (Pastor Brian) Faircloth of Asheboro, Steve (Molly) Adams of Asheboro and Sonya (Jimmy) Rich of Randleman; 10 grandchildren: Harley Moorefield, Samantha Adams, Cody Moorefield, Patience Faircloth, Bryce Faircloth, Branson Adams, Olivia Rich, Riley Adams, Connor Adams and Emma Rich; 5 great grandchildren: Payton Adams, Kaymen Moorefield, Bradon Adams, Brooklyn Adams and Brayden Adams; brother: Woody Adams of Waycross, GA and sister: Dorothy Gay of Fuquay-Varina.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Caraway Baptist Church, 2928 Beeson Farm Road, Sophia with Pastor Fredie Meadows, Pastor Jimmy Honeycutt and Pastor Brian Faircloth officiating.

Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
