JoAnn Stewart Trollinger, age 84, of Asheboro died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Randolph Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Trollinger was born in Charlotte on April 26, 1931 to Joseph and Helen Cauger Stewart. She was raised by her parents alongside her brother Douglas Stewart. She was a 1949 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte and attended St. Mary’s College in Winston-Salem. In 1951 she became employed with Myers Park High School in Charlotte. She later met her husband, H.R. "Bill" Trollinger, Jr. and they started their home together in Asheboro. She was a devoted wife of 63 years.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she served in the nursery and Sunday school department as well as being involved in several other committees. JoAnn was a loving mother and grandmother, always involved with her children in both Boy and Girl Scouts and also every activity they were involved with. She was a member of the Asheboro Garden Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne McCaskill and husband Heath of Asheboro, sons, Henry Trollinger and wife Patti of Holly Springs, NC, Tom Trollinger and wife Karen of Asheboro; grandchildren, Caroline Trollinger, Lindsey Poe and husband Jeff, Lauren Trollinger, Rebekah Needham, Matthew Needham, Max Trollinger, Jack Trollinger, Madison McCaskill; great grandchildren, Hunter, Cameron, Angel, Jackson, Benjamin, and Emma Louise; brother, Douglas Stewart and wife Marilyn of Wheaton, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro with Dr. Terry L. Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
