Betty “JoAnn” Hunt Hammer, age 86, of Asheboro, NC passed away on September 9th, 2024, peacefully at Hospice of Randolph.
JoAnn was born in Seagrove, NC to Claud Bernard Hunt and Roxie Woodell Hunt. She worked in the banking industry for most of her life, working first at First National Bank and then retiring from Community One Bank. She enjoyed spending time with her family, which she loved dearly. She also enjoyed many Sir Pizza lunches with her close friends. After retiring from the bank, JoAnn and husband “Buddy” established and opened Richland Creek Zipline Canopy Tours, which they ran together for several years.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest “Buddy” Hammer and granddaughter, Kandi Gail Cox. She is survived by her daughters, Gaynelle DeLappe (David) of Asheboro and Wanda Cox (Dannie) of Ramseur; Sister, Oillie Cherry of Clemmons; granddaughters, Michelle Frazier Beane and Keli Cox Jordan (Scott); great grandchildren, Simone Beane, Hunter Phillips, and Tristan Phillips; great great grandchildren, Paisley, Jayce, and Victor.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her niece Edna Pierce for her special attention and care and to the staff at Clapp’s Nursing Home for the extra care given to JoAnn during her stay.
A memorial service will be held in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 6:00 pm with Rev. Richard Routh officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in JoAnn’s honor to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
