JoAnn Earwood

JoAnn Dean Earwood passed away after a long illness on October 29, 2017.

She was born in Randleman, N.C., July 17, 1925 to the late Moselle Fields Dean and John Arthur Dean.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: sister, Hilma Dean Swaim, brothers, John A. Dean, Jim Dean, Paul Jerome Dean, and nieces: Lynn Dean and Barbara Swaim Cotton and nephew, James Frank Swaim, Jr.

JoAnn was devoted to her husband of 55 years, Dr. Luther J. Earwood who died in 1997.

JoAnn is survived by her sister, Betsy Dean Noblett of Gastonia, N.C. and sisters-in-law, Laura Dean of Woodland, Washington and Betty W. Dean of Greer, S.C. and nieces and nephews: Frankie Dean, Sandy, Betty Jo and David, Andy, John and Susan, Kirsten, Kyle and Christine, Paul and Mary, and Cindarie; great-nieces and great-nephews: Kim, Paula, Britt, Deana, Annie, Scott, Ryan, Natalie, Sydney, Jay, Christina, Amy, Lisa, Jason, Lindsey, Kathy.

JoAnn graduated from Brevard College and Scarritt College for Christian Workers, and taught in Georgia and Randleman and Asheboro, North Carolina. She and her husband, Dr. Luther J. Earwood founded the Asheboro Animal Hospital in 1955 where JoAnne was the executive assistant and bookkeeper of 33 years. JoAnne loved her church and her family and shared her love with everyone she met. She was a living example of God's love and a role model for all who knew her. She will be missed.

The Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro will be taking care of the arrangements.

The funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Asheboro, N.C., Sunday, November 5th at 2:00 PM with Pastors Caitlin Tremper and George Roberson officiating.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM in the church parlor.

Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, N.C.
