Joan Hassler Shurr

Joan Georgetta Hassler Shurr, age 94, of Asheboro died Friday, June 5, 2015 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation in Asheboro. Mrs. Shurr was born in Reading, PA on December 31, 1920 to George and Josephine Myers Hassler. She was retired from Bossong Hosiery as a folder. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Allen Carl Shurr. She is survived by her daughters, Nicole Mengel of Atlanta, GA, Carla Hostetter of New Iberia, LA, Celeste Shurr of Asheboro, NC; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Berks County, PA. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Shurr family.
