Joan Frye Lewis

Joan Frye Lewis, age 86, of Asheboro died Friday, July 28, 2017 at Clapp’s Nursing Center, in Pleasant Garden.

Joan was born October 26, 1930 in Carthage, NC the daughter of the late Edward C and Pearl Barrett Frye. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bill Lewis.  

Joan was a Christian who loved to sing with the Joyful Singers at First Baptist Church. Joan was a great cook who made everything from scratch. She was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved serving the Lord and serving her church. Joan was a long time worker in the cafeteria at NAMS where she enjoyed feeding the kids, and would slip them money, from time to time, so that they could get an order of fries or extra pizza.   

She is survived by daughter; LaRue (Ray) Fisher of Pendleton, SC, sons: Marty (Jan) Lewis of Asheboro, Ed Lewis of Climax, Brent (Christina) Lewis of Asheboro, and daughter; Martha (Char) Lewis of Asheboro, grandchildren: Barrett (Justin) Ludley of Greer, SC, Clay (Renee) Fisher of Abilene, TX, Melissa Lewis of Asheboro, David (Joy) Lewis of Franklinville, Meghan Lewis of Asheboro, and Sarah Lewis of Asheboro, great grandchildren, James Ludley, Tess Ludley, Anna Ludley, Will Ludley all of Greer, SC, Bailey Lewis and Corbin Lewis both of Franklinville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, and other times at the home.  The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC with Rev. Scotty Carpenter, Mark Hall, and Bud Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.

Joan's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Clapp's Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden for their loving care and kindness for Joan over the years.
