Jo Ann Clay

d. October 13, 2016

Jo Ann Satterfield Clay, age 67, went home to be with her Lord on October 13th at 4:50pm surrounded by her family and friends. She was born December 10th 1948 in Rocky Mount, NC the daughter of Oscar Billie and Emilie Taylor Satterfield. After moving from Rocky Mount to Gretna Virginia she found the love of her life, Kenny Clay, and was married June 25th 1967. They then relocated to Asheboro, and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kristen and Jordan Clay. She was a dedicated employee to the State of NC as a Deputy Clerk of Court in the criminal division where she served 25 years. After her retirement Jo Ann had many health issues that she courageously fought, and never complained. She held fast to her faith in Jesus and relied on Him to be her strength and comfort through all her battles. Although she never received her earthly healing, she now has her ultimate reward. There was no greater joy Jo Ann received than spending time with her children and grandchildren and supporting her husband as he traveled and sang Southern Gospel Music. She especially enjoyed her family beach trips and holiday gatherings. Her laugh was contagious, her wittiness unmatched, and her heart full of love. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband: Kenneth "Kenny" Clay; daughters: Kristen M. Davis and husband Jayson of Asheboro; Jordan Lynn Clay and her boyfriend Mike Key of Randleman; grandchildren, Willow Grace Davis, Conner Keith Key, Gavin Riley Key, and Braxton Hunter Key; brother: Larry Satterfield and wife Pam of Fort Mill, SC; and nieces: Kelly Davis & Robin Satterfield, of Rocky Mount, NC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Kivett, and Rev. Ronnie Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: The Susan G. Komen For The Cure, Komen NC Triad Affiliate, 1106 Burke St., Winston- Salem, NC 27101
