Jimmy William Smith, age 62, of 1142 Heathwood Dr., Randleman died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Rev. Jim Purdy officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
Mr. Smith was a native of Lexington, NC and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Jimmy was formerly employed with Eveready-Union Carbide and had worked at Caraway Speedway for more than 30 years. Jimmy loved racing, enjoyed spending time at Lake Tillery, fishing, camping, and riding on his pontoon boat.
He is survived by his fiancee, Linda Maness of Randleman, NC; son, Tommy Smith and his wife Carolyn of Trinity, NC; grandchildren, Corey Idol, Mckensey Smith, and Garrett Smith; sister, Libby Cox of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Jessie Barker of Asheboro, NC; and brother-in-law, Ben Kincaid of Oak Island, NC.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 29, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
