Jimmy F. Russell, age 73, of 1117 New Garden Rd., Greensboro, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 unexpectedly at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Russell is a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Pfeiffer University. He was a Physical Education teacher for Guilford County Schools and oldest active referee and long time umpire in North Carolina. Spanning a career of 33 years, Jim was a teacher and mentor to many young men and women student athletes.
He is survived by his wife: Audrey Russell, Son and his wife, Rick and Liz Russell of Raleigh, NC; daughters & their husbands, Beverly and Greg Stenzel of Raleigh, NC; Kay and Jim Currie of Greensboro, NC; Grand-daughters, Karly and Jayme Currie. Step-daughter, Kimberly Swaim of Whitsett. and step grand daughter, heather Swaim of Whitsett.four sisters: Decie R Moody of Ramseur, Mildred R Oliver of High Point, Margaret R Snow of Randleman, and Betty R Rodden of Archdale, and two brothers: Arthur (Doc) Russell and, Lee Roy Russell both of Randleman,
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be held Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Wesleyan Church, 125 Tabernacle St., Randleman with Rev. Alvin C. Newcomb and Rev. Don Hurlburt officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
