Jimmy Raeford DeHart, age 68, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home.
Mr. DeHart was born September 8, 1948 in Asheboro to Claude and Essie DeHart. He graduated from Seagrove High School and served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. DeHart was a jack of all trades who had raised tobacco and worked on farming equipment. He had a giving heart and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren at White Lake and the beach. In addition to his parents, Mr. DeHart was preceded in death by brother, Charles, Swanson and Roger DeHart and sister, Linda Bowman and Betty Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ritter DeHart; daughters, Melody King and husband Bruce of Asheboro, Tina Lassiter and husband Dennis of Asheboro; son, Kenny Webster of Asheboro; grandchildren, Danelle Lassiter, Lynn Baker and husband Brandon, Danielle Bowman, Candace Woods, Brittany Brafford and husband Daniel, Mattie Soto and husband Issiah, Celine Lassiter; and the spot that holds his heart, his great grandchildren, Keegan, Daniel, Naomi, Hailey, Abel, Oliver, Lydia and Bentley; sisters, Frances Kidd of Asheboro, Barbara Baker and husband Doug Baker of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 19, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 148 Drum St., Asheboro with Rev. Lee Green officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
