Jimmie Filmore Routh, 89, of Grays Chapel passed away Wednesday April 3rd.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, 5056 N.C. Hwy 22 North, Franklinville with Rev. Jacob Kyker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Jimmie was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the proud co-owner of Liberty Sawmill and later Triad Land and Timber and was a lifelong member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church. Jimmie believed there was honor in a day's work and that your handshake was your word. He loved his work, taking the grandkids on tours of his pasture to see the cows and spending time with his family.
He was the son of the late Isaac Routh and Gertrude Routh and was preceded in death by brothers, Junius and Thomas and sisters, Carletta Pugh and Margaret Julian.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Emma Bruce Routh; children, Mike Routh and wife Sonya, Donald Routh, Terri Ernst, Cindy Rich and husband Keith and Jed Routh and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Amos Routh, Eugene Routh, Jessi Ernst, Audie Ernst, Kelly Rich, Kenny Rich, Kory Rich, Eli Routh, Nadia Smith, Sylvie Routh and Samuel Routh and six great grandchildren.
