Jessie Bate York, age 93, of Asheboro moved into her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation.
Mrs. York was born on June 22, 1925 to George and Rebecca Stone Bate and grew up in Greensburg, IN. She married Henry Louis York on August 18, 1950. Jessie was a member of First Christian Church in Ramseur and was a former pianist and organist at Central Wesleyan Church in Asheboro and First Wesleyan Church in Randleman. Jessie was a former member of the Bate Sisters traveling evangelists and played many instruments including the accordion. In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Louis York, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Jessie loved to cook for her family and enjoyed passing along her recipes to them.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Ragan and husband Garry of Asheboro, Byron L. York of Houston, TX, Martha Collins and husband Jeff of Hamlet, and Cindy York-Sorg and husband David of Columbus, OH; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Mae B. Pavey of Clinton, IL.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garry Arnett officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation for the loving care given to Mrs. York for the past 6 years.
