Jessie Ray "Tommy" Miller, age 80, of Asheboro went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Miller was a native of Randolph County and an Army veteran of the Korean Era. He was formerly employed with Klopman Mills and Burlington Industries and retired from the North Carolina Zoo. Mr. Miller was a former scout master, was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the guitar. His children always said he was the "Best Daddy in the World" and was a loving husband and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Marcelene Poole Miller; children, Timothy Miller and wife Janet of Denton, Penny Robbins and husband Terry of Asheboro, Darrell Miller and wife Ramona of Asheboro, Bonnie Phillips and husband Terry of Asheboro, James Miller and wife Pamala of Asheboro; grandchildren, Trisha, T.J., Asheley, David, Michael, Aaron, Kristina, Tommy, Kimberly, Justin, Matthew, Charity, Michael, Kyle, Austin, Jessie James; great grandchildren, Katie, Ava, Cadence, Mary Grace, Levi, Emma Jane, Landon and Mason.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Stines, Rev. Fred Eddinger and Rev. Bobby Loving officiating. Burial with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
