Jessie McDuffie Henry, age 94, of Asheboro died Friday, January 24, 2014 at Cross Road Retirement Community.
Mrs. Henry was born in Moore County on October 2, 1919 to Angus C. and Eunice Jane McDuffie. In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Henry, Sr., daughter Carolyn Henry Cox, brothers Ed, Reece, Charlie, and Cecil McDuffie, and sisters Virgie Lewis, Mazie Jordan, Jewell Morgan, Kathleen Slaten, Annie Macon, Aggie Saunders, and Janie Williams. Jessie was a renowned seamstress and enjoyed sharing the vegetables and flowers that she grew in her garden.
She is survived by her daughters, Dot Henry Wilkes and her husband Ed of Atlanta, GA, Sarah Henry Owen and her husband Chip of Asheboro; son, C.W. "Buck" Henry, Jr. of Asheboro; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and sister, Lucille Ritch of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. A celebration of life service will follow on Monday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George W. Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
