Jesse Karl Rich, 75, passed away on October 28, 2015, following an illness of several months. He was the son of the late Lester Rich and Johnsie VanWerry Rich Garner. He was preceded in death by his son, Sterling Rich.
He is survived by his daughter, Jolie Rich Amick, granddaughter Haven Amick, grandson Brody Amick, brother Van Rich (Helen) of Asheboro, brother Sam Rich (Marilynn) of Norwood, a nephew and several nieces. Ex-wife is Gayle Coleman of Asheboro.
Karl was a graduate of Asheboro High School, then in the United States Air Force for four years as a medic. He then attended Greensboro College and was graduated from Guilford College. He was a representative for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals while in college. He was one course from obtaining his master's degree at University of South Florida in Tampa, where he was also in tax preparation work and involved with the Big Brothers organization, when he was offered a position with U.S. Steel in Clearwater, Florida as property manager for their condominium project on Sand Key. He was in real estate in Clearwater for many years.
Karl loved nature, boating and animals and passed down all of this to his children. He was artistically talented in several areas, especially oils and sculpture. He was well-read on a variety of topics, and considered by many as interesting conversationalist.
