Jerry Simmons

Jerry Simmons, age 59, of Troy died Friday, March 28, 2014 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst. Jerry was born March 21, 1955, the son of Doyle and Pothiner Young Simmons. He was of the Methodist faith and an employee of Saunders Lumber Yard. In addition to his father, Jerry is preceded in death by three brothers: T.C. Bowden, Jr., Larry Simmons and Vernon Simmons; one sister: Hazel Bennett. He is survived by his mother, Pothiner Young Simmons of Troy; one step-son: Curtis Starnes of Troy; brothers and sisters: Clara Green and husband, Oliver of Candor, Jessie James Simmons and wife, Mary of Mt. Gilead, Brenda Crouch of Norman, William Thomas Simmons, Sr. and wife, Priscilla of Mt. Gilead, Daisy Williams and special friend, Harold of Drakes Branch, VA, Ward Simmons, Sr. of Asheboro and Donna Smith and husband, Curtis of Troy; a host of nieces and nephews and special sister-in-law, Kizzie. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at 283 Springdale Heights, Troy. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Freeman Hill Cemetery, Troy.
