Jerry C. Rorie

Jerry C. Rorie, age 75, of 1517 Union Church Rd., Asheboro died Monday, August 30, 2010 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John S. Rogers and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Jerry was the youngest of eight children born to the late William E. and Emma Hallman Rorie, and was loved and spoiled by all. He was a 21 year native of Union County and lived in Asheboro for 46 years. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves. Mr. Rorie was employed with J. H. Allen Construction for 20 years and retired from Myrick Construction as a project manager. Jerry had a love for sports, whether watching his grandchildren play or golfing with his many golf buddies. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best buddy Bill Hopkins with whom he had made several trips out west. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Brown Rorie, William E. Rorie, II and James Hinkle Rorie. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Elsie F. Rorie; daughters, Pamela R. Rorie of Raleigh, Suzette Rorie-Saliga and her husband Jason of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jeremy F. Ward, Shayne Milligan, Carson L. Ward, and Kayla R. Saliga; sisters, Helen Funderburk of Monroe, Anne Greene of Stockbridge, GA, Betty Jo Moak and her husband Rodney of Charlotte; brother, Archie L. Rorie and his wife Sarah of Monroe. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
