Jerome Davidson, age 72, of Asheboro died on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Davidson was born in Randolph County on April 22, 1944 to James Wilson "Monk" and Virginia Lucille Brown Davidson. He attended Asheboro High School and was employed with the Clarence Smith Service Station during his high school years. Jerome served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed on the U.S.S. Coral Sea from 1964-1967. He was a lifetime member of Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church and was also associated with Bailey's Grove Baptist Church. Jerome started his construction career with Willie Plummer in 1967 and later started Trotter & Davidson Builders with Larry Trotter. This later became Davidson Builders and then Davidson & Son Builders with his son Bo. In his career he built many homes, churches, and commercial buildings in Asheboro and Randolph County. He was a charter member of the Randolph County Home Builders Association. In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Henley "Poochie" Davidson to whom he would have been married to for 50 years this July. Jerome enjoyed golf, motorcycles and hot rods. He loved classic cars and liked to "rotate his stock" often. Jerome loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his daughter, Betsy Brooke Davidson of Asheboro; son, Bo Davidson and wife Beth of Asheboro; grandchildren, Sam Davidson, Landis Davidson, Sawyer Davis, and Lance Davis; brothers, Duawe Davidson and wife Ann of Asheboro and Eric Davidson and wife Debbie of Sanford; sisters, Rosalyn Schied and husband Dick of Asheboro and Janice Moon and husband Harold of Asheboro; and many, many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 4:30 pm at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp, Pastor Jonathan Shook, and Rev. Doug Dennis officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
