Jennings Price "JP" Staples, age 81, of 913 South Elm Street, High Point and formerly of Randleman, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Westwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, Archdale.
Mr. Staples was a native of Mayodan, NC. A former textile worker he worked for several plants in Randolph County, including Deep River Dye. He also worked at the Econo Mart on North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro and was a paper carrier for the Courier Tribune. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. J.P was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Carter Staples and daughter, Lisa Staples.
He is survived by four daughters: Nicole Ackley of Greensboro, NC, Susan Smith of FL, Lucy Sykes of Asheboro, NC, Audrey Armentrout of Asheboro, NC and six sons: Tommy Staples of Asheboro, NC, David Staples of Asheboro, NC, Jake Staples of Ramseur, NC, Michael Staples of Welcome, NC, Jesse Staples of Asheboro, NC, Sam Staples of Trinity, NC; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; of one sister: Ruth S. Carter of Kernersville, NC.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The graveside funeral will be Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery, Mayodan, NC with Pastor Stephen Stowe officiating.
