Jefferson Woodrow Miller, age 94, of 1006 Parkview St., Asheboro died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at his home.Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church St., Asheboro with Dr. John S. Rogers and Rev. Coy Lee Haywood officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, Franklinville.Mr. Miller was a native of Mt. Airy and attended Appalachian State Teachers College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he received the Meritorious Service Plaque and the Bronze Star. He was retired from Hollingsworth Jewelry Store and Cherry, Bekaert & Holland Accounting. Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Asheboro Kiwanis Club with 60 years of perfect attendance and was formerly active with the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship. Jeff was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby J. Miller, sisters, Mary Miller McGee, Pansy Miller Zyvith, and Edith Miller Snead, and brother, Colonel Samuel Ford Miller.He is survived by his sister-in-law, Louise Pate Miller of Tullahoma, TN; and Gladys J. Hudson of Asheboro, NC; nieces and nephews, Buz Miller, Jeffrey Miller, Jan M. Farmer, Elaine M. Ramsey, Janet Z. West, Bryan Zyvith, Kim S. Barksdale, and great nephew, Max McGee.The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, 2009 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church.
